The ‘Sapera’ (Indian Snake Charmer)
India, a country often linked with the mysterious art of snake charming, evokes visions of dusky-skinned men skillfully playing the flute while intricately entwined with serpents. As the presence of saperas (snake charmers) has diminished over time, I recreated the scene of one such snake charmer on a black-and-white portrait through vibrant embroidery adorning the background, infusing color and bringing forth their captivating spirit to the forefront.
