The Silent Revival

I love hats, and the 19th and early 20th centuries, when hats were in vogue, inspired me to create this artwork. The tall hat and playful bow were inspired by Charlie Chaplin, mixing humor and strength in a world learning to smile again. I used real scraps of fabric to make her clothes and stitched them by hand onto the stretch canvas. The hat was made from sun board, the flower from paper clay, and I painted a peacock feather gold to decorate it.
