Patterning

1,800

The pattern used to make this piece is known as the houndstooth pattern. The weave gets its name from the alternating bands of four light and four dark threads in the weft and warp, two of which are over and two beneath the warp, creating a jagged or broken check pattern. For a tiny check, the design was called “shepherd’s check,” “dogtooth,” and “puppytooth” due to its abstract four-pointed shape.
