Description
The Japanese concept of ‘wabi-sabi’ taught me to embrace and celebrate the scars from my open-heart surgery rather than hiding them. Often described as ‘fleeting beauty’ in art books, this philosophy inspired my self-portrait. The heart, created with woven fabric, features red hues representing oxygenated blood and blue hues for deoxygenated blood, symbolizing the blend resulting from my condition. This artwork not only represents my health journey but also tells the story of my courage in pursuing my dreams.
