Childhoods We Walk Past
This piece was inspired by the disturbing prevalence of child labour in Delhi. It is very common to see children selling items at traffic signals, and working at construction sites, markets, restaurants etc. on the streets. I got a better understanding of this issue while volunteering at a slum, where I had the chance to interact closely with many children. I saw how work had replaced school for many of them, and were constantly exhausted. Through my work, I wanted to reflect their strength as well as their lost innocence.
